Mostafa Farangi is a Ph.D. student in Nanoelectronics, at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Tehran. His research interests center on two interwoven research themes: Solar cells and Nanotechnology. Now he has focused on light management in various photovoltaic devices by plasmonic light absorber structures.
He received his M.Sc. in Nanophysics, from Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, University of Kashan. His research area was "Fabrication of solar cell based on Silicon and Germanium nanowires by Electroless and CVD methods and consideration of its photovoltaic properties". In that project, he studied fabrication of solar cells by Germanium and Silicon nanowires and measured their photovoltaic properties by Solar Simulator and IVIUMSTAT under standard conditions in AM1.5. Due to precise consideration of solar cells behavior and meticulous study of effective factors on photovoltaic properties, he used the numerical simulation of solar cells by AFORS-HET software, too.
To synthesis Germanium nanowires, he used CVD method and examined the effective parameters (such as size of Au catalyst, carrier gas flow, addition of Hydrogen to carrier gas) to achieve optimized growth conditions for nanowires with proper dimensions, shapes and density. To synthesis Silicon nanowires, he used Electroless method and examined the effective parameters (such as concentration of Ag catalyst, reaction time and temperature) to achieve optimized growth conditions for nanowires.
